Let's Talk - MAKEUP

Hey y'all coming atcha with a makeup blog post. I seriously miss writing on the blog, truly so gratifying for me, and I am hoping to get more content out this new year! If you know me I am obsessed with skincare and read just about every article and blog ever. I have slowly amped up my skincare/makeup routine and found some super great products. As with all skincare and makeup, it is not a one size fits all, everyone's skin is different so it is important to find products that work for your specific skin. This post will be so helpful for y'all to refer back to, and I will also be able to update it with new products as I incorporate them. Honestly this post is a little all over the place, but let's get to it!

Let's start with prepping the skin!!! Here are some of my current favorites, and honestly there is no rhyme or reason to which I use, they are all great.

  • Charlotte's Magic Serum Crystal Elixir Magic Serum: real pricy, but let me tell you it is AMAZE. the most expensive and bougie serum you will ever use, but hey it's great.

  • Supergoop! Glowscreen Sunscreen: This is actually a SPF 40 which is amazing because sunscreen is critical everyday, yes EVERY day. This sunscreen has a tint to it with some glow, which is nice under makeup especially if you use matte products.

  • Supergoop! Unscreen Sunscreen: This is the same Supergoop SPF 40, but this one is completely sheer and SO smooth. It blends very well, reminds me of a gel..? It is amazing, and I once again either use this unseen one or the glowscreen above.

  • Counter+ Lotus Cleansing Balm: LET ME TELL YOU. This is my #1, ride or die, cannot live without product. I am not exaggerating this is seriously my favorite skincare product of all time. The Cleansing Balm does it all and more. I will use this as a primer when my skin is very dehydrated (hello, winter). Also, I will use it as a moisturizer before makeup and my skin looks so hydrated and amaze.

  • Tula Blurring and Moisturizing Primer. I have had this in my makeup bags for probably a year or two. Works a lot like a filter just kinda blurs your skin. No complaints. Shade: Sunrise.

Alrighty, next I go in with some concealer. My favorite is the Beauty Counter Concealer, however they are currently replacing the applicator and re-releasing it in a few months. I can update this post with the link when it is released.

FOUNDATION TIME! I have a few different foundations but hear me out, they are all great for different things lol.

  • First up, this is probably my all time favorite makeup product, not to mention most used. It is so amazing and perfect for full face or everyday looks. Beauty Counter Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer. I use shade medium, but I also have the shade light, and honestly I love to mix different shades and foundations, because I feel it gives the best results. This is only a tinted moisturizer so the coverage is very light (which I desire). Cannot say enough good things about it. Shade: Medium.

  • Skin Twin Featherweight Foundation. This is another Beauty Counter product that is sooo good. It is very lightweight, as the name states, and the coverage I would say is light to medium, but could definitely be buildable. I use this every time I do my makeup, mixing one pump of this and one pump of the tinted moisturizer. Also, as far as shades go I would say they are very interchangeable, so it is not critical to have an exact match. Shade: Medium 340.

  • This is a newer find, but Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Longwear Foundation. I love the way this is one blends into the skin and it is very long-wearing. I will say if I could go back in time I would get a darker shade, but I love to use this one in the places I want a brighter look, like under my eyes. I will take a tiny pump of this shade and dot it under my eyes almost like a concealer to brighten & she works like a charm. Shade: 4 Warm (honestly it's a little light when i'm tan, but once again love to mix with my BC darker shade for a perfect match).

  • Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin Medium Coverage Liquid Foundation with Hyaluronic Acid. This foundation recently released and I instantly grabbed it. I am a sucker for all things CT and she outdid herself with this foundation. The formula reminds me of a hybrid between a tinted moisturizer and a foundation which I love. It is buildable, but still light weight so it doesn't feel cakey. It also has hyaluronic acid in it with is AMAZE for your skin. It is very long wearing too and doesn't look weird with extended wear. Shade: 5 Neutral.

The magic foundation combo for me, (remember everyone's skin is different find what works for you!) I mix the Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin Medium Coverage Liquid Foundation AND Skin Twin Featherweight Foundation AND Beauty Counter Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer WITH Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Longwear Foundation (UNDER THE EYES). Totally realize this is excessive, but it has been working like a dream and by mixing shades I create the perfect color match!

Get me BRONZED! We love a tan glow, so I am a sucker for bronzer.

  • Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Bronzer Bronzer. This is a great drugstore option and once again the shades are very interchangeable IMO. I use a big fluffy brush and just kinda go for it. Shade: 6675.

  • This product has totally changed the bronzer game, like seriously. Dibs Dessert Island Duo. It is a cream bronzer which was so intimidating, but it is amazing and blends like magic, for real. Cannot live with this bronzer/blush duo the formula and colors are just perfect. Shade: Spill the Tea AND Mood Boost. (Shades 2 & 3).

  • Not quite sure if this qualifies as a true bronzer but it is so good, it is the Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi™ Anti-Pollution Sunshine Drops. I will mix this into my foundation or tinted moisturizer if it is a lighter shade or just for an extra glow. You could totally blend this out like a bronzer, just know it is really pigmented.

Get yourself a sunkissed glow with some BLUSH.

  • Once again, this Dibs Dessert Island Duo, IT IS MY FAV. Blends so nicely and is the prettiest pinky color. Not that I know anything, but I love to blend blush over my nose as if I was to get sunburnt. You will not be disappointed in these products, Courtney Shields killed it. Also, I loved the formula and shade so much I ordered a second one!! Both colors are amaze! Shade: Full Deets & You do You. (Shades 2 & 3).

  • As far as powdered blush, the Beauty Counter Satin Powder Blush is my favorite and bonus it has clean ingredients! It blends so nice, and it has a really cute sparkle to it without being over the top. Shade: Nectar. Beauty Counter also just released their Cheeky Clean Cream Blush, I have not had the chance to try it yet, but the reviews are amazing.

& always need a little HIGHLIGHT glow!

  • Dibs really killed it with the cream makeup game, truly unmatched, Dibs Status Stick. I use a powder brush to hit the spots on my face the light would (highest parts of the face) like cheekbones, cupid's brow, nose, etc. Also, I practically bathe my body in the status stick as a highlighter, and it almost like blurs your skin. It is perfect for the collarbone, arms, legs, chest, wherever you want to GLOW. Shade: Good Life Gold.

  • Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Liquid Highlighter Wand. Recently picked this up once again because everyone was talking about it, but it truly lives up to the hype. Use as a highlighter on your face or I have also been using it on my collarbone and blending it out with either my fingers or a brush. Loving the formula and really eyeing the blush shade when it comes back in stock. Shade: Spotlight.

time to set the face with some POWDER! My two absolute favorite powders.

finish her off with some SETTING SPRAY.

MASCARA. This is such an opinionated makeup product IMO, everyone definitely has their personal favorites so here's mine.

  • Sky High Mascara. This is the BEST DRUGSTORE mascara in my opinion. Ever since I first grabbed this I have not switched it up. Not only is the price ideal, but the formula does not bleed and lengthens the look of your lashes.

  • Lash primer, let me tell you, lash primer is a GAME CHANGER. Lancome Cils Booster XL Super-Enhancing Mascara Primer. Makes your lashes so much fuller; goes on white, let it get tacky, then apply mascara as usual. I can always tell a difference when I use lash primer vs. when I do not.

  • Lancome Monsieur Big Volumizing Mascara. This is an OG fav of mine I have used it as long as I can remember.

  • Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes™ 4-in-1 Mascara. I got this a couple years back and it is really awesome. I love how it is not super dramatic and not clumpy at all. Bonus, the packaging is awesome.

  • Another drug store option, Lash Stiletto Mascara. I bought this after seeing Madi Prewett use it on the Bachelorette, because her lashes were perfect.

beautify your eyes, I am truly no expert when it comes to makeup as stated, and eye shadow is even more like that I have zero eye makeup talent.

  • Tartelette™ In Bloom Clay Eyeshadow Palette. This is the palette I use whenever I do makeup the shades are very simple and the best everyday basic colors. They don't have a lot of transfer, are buildable, and blend really well.

  • Seriously any Tarte palettes are amazing, I have a bunch of them and once again love them all and the formula, personally just simply do not possess any eye makeup talent. The Toasted Palette is great.

  • Stila Shimmer & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow. This stuff is so fun for events and to wear as a glitter liner. Shade: Kitten.

  • NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil. I found this on an amazon rampage last year and love! I put it on my bottom waterline and it truly brightens your eyes so much. Shade: White.

  • Beauty Counter Lid Glow Cream Shadow. This was recently released and I love how subtle it is. I put it on almost as a primer and it has a subtle shimmer that shows up underneath any powder shade I layer over top. While it does have some shimmer it is not over the top glitter by any means. Shade: Gleam.

LIPPIES! Love, seriously love a good lip.

  • Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask. This is another product with a cult following. Once you try this stuff you won't stop. It has the prettiest pink color and glossy look. Shade: Berry.

  • Laneige Lip Glowy Balm. Another ride or die and honestly, it is the same formula as the lip sleeping mask, just more convenient. Shade: Berry.

  • Dior Lip Glow. This is the only lip stick I regularly grab for. The shade is light enough to wear with a gloss and liner, without your lips being over dramatic, and best of all it will not dry you out. Shade: 001 Pink.

  • Dior Lip Glow Oil. These lip glow oils are so unique and I fell in love with them last year (hence why I have a ton of them, lol). They are a mix between a lip oil and a gloss. Once again, will not dry you out and honestly really love. Shade: Raspberry; Cherry; Light Pink; Rosewood.

  • Dior Lip Maximizer. Another Dior favorite, as you can tell I am a huge Dior lip fan. This is their version of a pumping lip gloss. Does not burn or dry you out. You could wear this on its own, or use the whole Dior lip line in unison. Shade: 001 Pink; Ultra Pink.

  • Tatcha Kissu Lip Mask. I found this product this summer after having severe dry lips (thanks to the sun). It is very hydrating and I use religiously every night. It is very glossy looking and also works perfect on top of any lip stick. Shade: Original.

  • DIBS No Pressure Lip Duo. Once again DIBS killed this lip dup! If you are a fan of any type of cream makeup make sure to try DIBS Beauty. This duo includes a definer and a liner. The formula blends LIKE A DREAM it is so creamy and long wearing. How to use: Use the contour shade to accentuate your shape, whether or not you color outside the lines. Fill in all over with the color shade for lasting, feather-free pigment. Blend quickly, this budge-proof formula sets within a minute! Shade: Definer in Light. Liner in On the Rose.

  • Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip. Shade: Orchid is my favorite, but I have just about every shade lol. These Juicy Lips are a perfect match between a lipstick and a lip gloss. They are not super sticky by any means and hydrate your lips while adding a hint of color. You really cannot go wrong with any shades.

  • Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm. While this is not really true makeup, I love using this balm daily or as a gloss overtop of a lipstick. Shade: Vanilla.

  • Charlotte Tilbury Lip Liner. This shade of lip liner definitely has a cult following, and for a good reason. I swear it looks good on all skin tones and is perfect for over-lining the lips (just a TAD) and adding some lip stick or gloss on top. Shade: Pillow Talk.

  • Beauty Counter Beyond Gloss. I have never loved a lip gloss more than I love this Beauty Counter one. I will never go back on this gloss, I highly, highly recommend trying it especially in the clear shade. I also have a bunch of colored shades, but typically use the clear the most frequently. Not only is the formula amazing and hydrating but it tastes SO GOOD. If you buy one lip product let it be this gloss, I have gotten so many friends/fam hooked on it. Not kidding when I say it is the best. Shade: Quartz Shimmer - Clear.

  • Beauty Counter Jellies. I think most Beauty Counter products are amazing, but hey they have clean ingredients and do their job + some. These jellies are amazing and I always have them in my purses. Cannot go wrong with the sorbet and peppermint combo, the colors are very sheer and the perfect topper to any lipstick or worn on their own. Another product I have gotten my friends/fam hooked on. *would also make a great gift. Shade: Sorbet & Peppermint.

  • Beauty Counter Sheer Genius Conditioning Lipstick. This lipstick is very hydrating and perfect for super dry lips, because it won't settle. I love this shade because I am not a huge fan of very pigmented lipsticks. The shade I have has some subtle shimmer to it as well and works amazingly with the beyond gloss on top. Shade: Pearl Clear with Soft Shimmer.

  • City Lips Plumping Lip Gloss. This is a great amazing find and as the name states, it is a plumping gloss. *Should be states that it does NOT burn like the one we all know and love (Lip injection lip plumper). It also comes in colored shades but I love myself a clear gloss. Shade: Clear.

  • Kissio Lip Plumper. This is an extreme lip plumper, def works but it will burn. Love how small the packaging is to fit in any bag! If you are looking for a budget friendly lip plumper I would recommend trying this one for sure. Shade: Clear.

  • NYX Butter Gloss. A drugstore classic this has been one of my favs for a long while. Cannot go wrong especially for the $$. *Def not as hydrating or long wearing as other glosses listed above but very inexpensive. Shade: Creme Brûlée.

  • NYX Lip Liner. I have found this lip liner is a dupe for the CT pillow talk. It does its job and goes on very smooth. I will say it is not very long wearing and may travel/bleed a bit with time. But once again, very good for $$. Shade: Nude Suede Shoes.

  • Lip Injection Extreme Lip Plumper. This lip pumper has a cult following and for a good reason. It def pumps your lips! May be a bit drying but the glossiness of it is super pretty over a lipstick or colored lip gloss. *Does come in colored shades. Shade: Clear.

  • Laneige Lip Treatment Balm I recently picked up this lip, because I always fall in love with Laneige products. This lip treatment smells like a dream. It reminds me a lot of a pineapple beach vacation. I love the packaging on this one because there is a place for the applicator to stay in the lid which is clutch! This lip treatment does have a little bit of shimmer to it unlike the sleeping mask but it does wonders for super dry lips!

BROWS. Unlike most, I just started paying attention to the brows, oops. I saw this product going viral online, and I had to try it out. Anastasia Brow Freeze. All you need is a brow brush and just brush those brows on up. It seriously lasts so well and really changes the brow game. I've really fell in love with this brow freeze, and haven't heard one negative review about it. Other than that, I have never filled in my brows and this product is a one stop shop for me.

PRODUCTS I WANT TO TRY:

Okay before I go on, let me link all my MAKEUP TOOLS...? lol, is that what you call them?

  • This is my favorite beauty blender situation, The Better Blender. It is truly just unmatched and side note has no artificial colors which is so important cause how could that be good on your skin.

  • I recently just bought this The Sponge by The Original MakeUp Eraser. Never seen anything like it on the market it is machine washable, which is so fun, and has a travel case, which is amazing so it doesn't dirty everything. So far, really liking it and the different angles it has.

  • To remove my makeup I SWEAR BY the Original MakeUp Eraser. This is a genius idea and truly works. It seriously erases all your makeup with just water it is magical. It has a cult following, it's great.

  • These Power Brushes are amaze, the handle is so sleek too which is a total plus. I use the angled and foundation brushes. *I use for compact powder, bronzer, blush.

  • This Tweezerman Lash Tool is such a handy little tool. It is like little needles that you use to separate your eye lashes from clumpy mascara.

  • I am so obsessed with these Elf Blending Brushes they are so great for blending cream products. *I use for cream highlight, bronzer, blush.

  • For makeup brushes, I really do not have any loyalties and honestly just use cheap amazon ones, lol maybe I'll branch out this year, but this is my Makeup Brush Set.

  • Some honorable mentions: I have these Oval Makeup Brushes, they make me feel so fancy lol, but the small ones are great for eye shadow blending and nose contour. If you are looking for inexpensive beauty blender options these Beakey Blenders are great and I honestly will still use them time to time when I can't find my BC one.

  • Totally not a "tool" but I swear by this Cleansing Oil. Do not be afraid of cleansing oils, the fact that it is an oil freaked me out, but it is so good. I use it on my eyes to remove any stubborn eye makeup that does not come of via makeup eraser liked above. I love to double cleanse with it as well, so I will use this to remove makeup then wash my face with a regular cleanser and I have found it helps my skin not dry up so much.

That's all from me, LOVE Y'ALL! Still blown away by the endless support.
