COLLEGE APARTMENT MUST HAVES & CHECKLIST

Hey y'all!! It's about the time to move in and get back to school so I have put together an apartment check list with everything you could ever think of, or need! I hope this helps and be sure to read my Dorm Room Must Haves blog post, READ IT HERE & my Dorm Room Must Haves & Checklist blog post, READ IT HERE! Obviously all of the items listed are not a necessity, I hope from the list you can gather the items that best suit your style and needs. You can easily download this checklist to print or save it to your Pinterest board for easy access. HERE I am linking my "COLLEGE" Pinterest board to get some inspo! Happy Shopping! I also made an Amazon list, "COLLEGE DORM & APARTMENT MUST HAVES"!

KITCHEN: Check out one of my previous blog posts, Amazon Home - Kitchen. READ IT HERE. In this post I linked up a bunch of kitchen essentials including cutting boards, mixing bowls, baking mats, a strainer, an air fryer, non stick pans, and more. Also, be sure to look at THE "KITCHEN" LIST ON MY AMAZON. It can be so easy to get carried away, so start out with the simple, everyday essentials and then buy things you may need from there. Absolute essentials: coffee maker, air fryer, pots/pans, silverware, plates, bowls, cups, mixing bowls, cutting board.

LIVING ROOM: I have a ton of home decor linked on my website on the "HOME" tab along with the "HOME" LIST ON MY AMAZON. These tabs are perfect for getting some inspo or checking out some of my picks and items I have & use. CHECK OUT THE HOME TAB HERE. CHECK OUT MY AMAZON HOME PICKS HERE.

BEDROOM: As far as apartment bedding goes, make sure you have a mattress protector and most importantly a good mattress topper. A mattress topper is something to spend some extra money on!! Other than that, you just need the bedding basics. Also, make sure you have an extra set of sheets, it was nice to have a different set when one was in the wash.

BATHROOM: Once again, another simple section. Make sure you have all the basics: shower curtain, shower curtain liner, shower caddy, soap dispenser, toothbrush holder. Other than that, it is very convenient to have different organization options for the small space. Another good options is to use a rolling utility cart to store larger or more used, everyday items. Also, make sure you have more than enough towels, it was nice to have a different set when one was in the wash.

ORGANIZATION: I did not realize how important organization was in an apartment. With a smaller space, it is important to have more organizers, drawers, bins, etc. that in return create more space. Starting out with under-the-bed storage: it was helpful having different sized bins and container for seasonal items or extras. Also, depending upon the size of your room, it may be helpful to have a bookshelf, shelving unit, or cabinet organizer shelf of some sort for different items. For desk storage: desk organizers can be helpful along with pencil cups, a jewelry stand, or a jewelry box. More handy little organizers included different sized 3 Tiered Rolling Carts (for extra closet storage) and storage ottomans.

CLEANING: Just like the dorms, it is crazy how dirty things get in a small space. It is so important to have cleaning stuff on hand! Another important "cleaning" item is an Air Purifier. I also loved having a vacuum and steam mop.

RETAILERS TO CHECK OUT: Amazon, Target, Walmart, The Home Depot, Lowe's.

DECOR: Decor is such an easy way to make a boring room into a fun space. Pick a vibe/theme you are going for first and then run with it. Check out my Pinterest board for ideas, HERE. Find different items to mix together; sentimental items and pictures mixed with fresh, new decor. Some essential decor items include lamps (more light the better), command strips/hooks (you will use more than you think), mirrors (easy way to brighten & make a space bigger), ottomans (functional storage), and picture frames (sentimental).

ELECTRONICS: The best thing you will buy is extension cords! They are incredibly helpful and I have a bunch all over the room. I also loved having a printer in my room for convince. Personally, having an essential oil diffuser, an alarm clock, and a TV with an Apple TV/Fire Stick in my room was so convenient and fit my needs.

PRO TIP: I definitely recommend either creating a google doc of your own to share with your roommates or importing my checklist into a google doc so each person can check off what they are bringing as you go!!!
